Join us for an info meeting

Meeting time and location to be announced soon!

We’ll cover solar basics and explain how you can participate in the group.

Follow the Listserve and “like” our VA SUN Facebook page to get updates in the meantime.

We’d also love help making a meeting happen. Shoot us an email if you’d like to help organize something: halifaxcoop@communitypowernetwork.com.

How does the co-op work?

Based on the same principle as buying in bulk, the co-op will go through the process of purchasing solar systems together. The group will select a single contractor to install systems on all of the homes, all participants own their own system and will sign their own contract with the chosen installer.

By going solar as a group, members will save 30% off the cost of a solar system. They’ll also have the support of the co-op throughout the process instead of having to go it alone. This buying group is being sponsored Oak Grove Plantation Bed and Breakfast and welcomes any homeowners and businesses in Halifax County to participate.

Please make sure your information is entered correctly before submitting the form! Thanks! The Community Power Network Team
  • About Your House

  • It's OK if you can't find it now, but the installer will need it later. You can find this on your electricity bills.
  • Installer Selection Criteria

We will issue a Request for Proposals (RFP) from area installers to get bids on behalf of the group. In the RFP we will request that they provide information on price, system components, warranties, resumes, references, and information on their business. We'd like your input on additional information you would like for us to request from the installers.
  • Click those that are most important to you. Select multiple answers by holding the command or control key on your keyboard while clicking.
  • Examples might include: offer American-made panels, ability to replace older roofs, offer local job training opportunities, etc.

Who is organizing this?

The co-op is being organized by Oak Grove Plantation Bend and Breakfast and Virginia SUN, a program of Community Power Network
